Inside the woods of the Dolomites I heard the weeping of uprooted trees from the fury of nature in the last autumn. A devastating scenario where the torn roots, now impregnated by snow, emanate a strong smell of conifers and the powerful scent of pine engages you. Starting from this feeling and from the vision of the volumes of the trees, so large but so fragile, I thought of giving shape to the remains of this precious wooden material. Michela Cattai

Bulbi collection emerges from a silent request for help, which Michela accepted without hesitation, confirming once again her deep sensitivity towards everything aimed at recovering our heritage.

Bulbi is the union between a blown glass of Murano, in various natural shades, and cirmolo wood, essential in its refined form and artfully shaped by the expert South Tyrolean artisans.

The blown glass with a contemporary shape, inspired by a bulb and created in various shades related to the earth, is completed with the surge of a minimal wooden sculpture, a symbol of nature brought back to life.

The desire to recover what has been destroyed, natural heritage and material that is still malleable, leads me to create the “Bulbo” series, in reference to nature and rebirth.

The series has been exhibited at the Italian Cultural Institute of Tokyo, at PAD LONDON Art+Design and at The Venice Glass Week event
