This is the magical moment when we can give shape to our toughts, repeat the history of millennia with a gesture and direct the act to create a form of luminous plasticity.
Botanica Vitrea
Michela Cattai’s latest creative exploration is expressed in the Botanica Vitrea collection
through a series of blown glass sculptural works:
BOTANICA ADRIATICA, BOCCIOLO, COROLLA, PISTILLO, and LIBELLULA.
Each piece is unique and of great constructive complexity.
The collection is infused with a warm color palette: Amber, Antique Gold, and Hydrangea.
The artist not only reinterprets ancient Murano techniques but also explores the historical significance of native plants in the Venetian lagoon habitat, such as Salicornia and
Salsola. In the past, ashes from these plants, containing potassium and sodium
carbonate, were mixed in the crucible to produce blown glass.
What makes this collection unique is the masterful use of glass reliefs, giving the artworks an extraordinary vitality. The blurred, moving, and organic petals create a poetic image reminiscent of petals in the wind, bringing to life a suggestive combination of natural inspiration and creative expression.
Botanica Adriatica represents a perfect synthesis between the ‘savoir-faire’ of the Murano island’s traditional blown glass and the marine territory of the Venetian lagoon. Show at SALON ART + DESIGN, New York Show at Palazzo Loredan, Venice, Italy
